Bio-Sol Nematode

Bio-Sol Nematode is a talc based biological nematicide containing spores and mycelial fragments (@ 1 X 108 CFU's / gm) of a naturally occurring entomopathogenic fungus Paecilomyces lilacinus - a common saprophyte with a cosmopolitan distribution. This fungus has naturally evolved over time to attack nematodes and their eggs without being harmful to any other plant or species.

Mode of action

The spore of this fungus acts by infecting, parasitising and killing eggs, juvenile and young adults of most nematode species.  When the fungi come in contact with different stages of nematodes they germinate and grow and proliferates throughout the nematode eventually paralyses the nematode and killing it.

Ecological information

Bio-Sol Nematode is not detrimental to the environment. Paecilomyces lilacinus already occurs naturally in the soil. The addition of further spores increases its activity in controlling nematodes. Most other organisms are left unharmed. An important benefit of this is that the soil retains its natural state and other important microflora are left untouched. The availability of nutrients to the plants therefore remains unaffected.
